1. Create a New Conduit Calculation:
2. Setup your Conduit
- Description: Set a Description for the Conduit
- Type: Chose the Type of Conduit
- Duty: Choose from Very Light to Very Heavy Duty Conduit
- Number of Conduits: Set the Number of Conduits for this Calculation
- (This is limited to the number of circuits you have added)
Size To: Select between Manual or Automatic sizing as per AS/NZS 5000.1
Configuration: Select between a circuit comprising of a single cable with multiple cores or a collection of single core cables
Arrangement: The arrangement of the cores (or conductions for a multicore cable)
Cable Features: Allows selection of default cable features. "None" refers to conductor and insulation alone. "Basic Sheathed" includes a metallic sheath (and extruded bedding for multi-core cables). "User Defined" allows you to make your own selections using the Features tab.
Active: Enter the Quantity, Nominal Size and the insulation type of the Active Cable
Neutral: Enter the Quantity, Nominal Size and the insulation type of the Neutral Cable
Earth: Enter the Quantity, Nominal Size and the insulation type of the Earth Cable
User Defined
Selecting User Defined will give you an additional Tab labeled Features
Bedding:
If checked, the cables in this circuit include bedding as specified in AS/NZS 5000.1, clause 8.
- Extruded: If checked, the cable bedding is extruded
- Taped: If checked, the cable bedding is taped
- Use Clause 8.4.2 Exception: According to AS/NZS 5000.1, the thickness of cable bedding can be reduced under certain conditions. If checked, the bedding thickness is reduced as per the conditions of this clause.
Oversheath:
If checked, the cables in this circuit include an oversheath as specified in AS/NZS 5000.1, clause 13.
- Fixed: If checked, the cables in this circuit are fixed cables, or flexible cables installed in a fixed installation.
- Flexible: If checked, the cables in this circuit are flexible cables.
- Applied Directly to Metallic Layer: If checked, the oversheath is applied directly to the underlying metallic layer.
Non-Metallic Braid:
If checked, the cables in this circuit include a non-metallic braid
as specified in AS/NZS 5000.1, clause 14.
- Glass: If checked, the non-metallic braid is comprised of glass.
- Polyethylene Terephthalate: If checked, the non-metallic braid is comprised of polyethylene terephthalate.
Separation Layer:
If checked, the cables in this circuit include a separation layer as specified in AS/NZS 5000.1, clause 10.
Metallic Screen or Concentric Conductor: If checked, the cables in this circuit include a metallic screen or concentric conductor
Insect Attack Protection: If checked, the cables in this circuit include additional protection against insect attack
Armour:
If checked, the cables in this circuit include armour as specified in AS/NZS 5000.1, clause 11.
- Taped: If checked, the armour comprises of two layers of armour tape
- Wired: If checked, the armour comprises of layers of armour wire.
- Number of Layers: Specifies the number of wire layers used in the cable armour.
Metallic Sheath: (Requires Extruded Being or Separation Layer)
- If checked, the cables in this circuit include a metallic sheath
